Wholesale Drop Ship - A Business of The Past

The idea of dropshipping is a customer orders a product through the drop ship service, this service then orders this item with a wholesaler. The wholesale company charges the customer and delivers the item. The wholesale drop ship company then earns a commission from the sale. Is this the perfect business? You don't have to carry stock or go to the local post office. Somebody else does the hard work.

Could be a great business to run through eBay, and it's the dropshippers who are being hurt - by their own wholesalers. The wholesale companies realized it would be in their interest to sell their products on eBay. This cut the drop ship company out of the picture. It could also be a problem when the wholesaler ran out of stock. A serious problem for an eBay business dropshipper. eBay rules are simple. The seller has to have the item in stock before it is listed in eBay. If they don't, eBay will blacklist you, or your buyer will lump you with negative feedback. If you gain too many negative feedback points, you'll blacklist yourself.

Can The Dropshipper Do Anything?

Yes, don't list your items on eBay. There is still an untapped market for people wanting to buy stuff at good prices. You just need to think a little "outside the box". You've just got to go back to the good old days of direct marketing. A profitable drop ship business could be run by targeting groups, like local schools or organizations. You could leave your catalogues at your local church, or even your doctor or dentist. You can still use payment facilities like Paypal or Bidpay to take payments, but now you have an audience that is not usually exposed to the eBay wholesalers or drop shipping companies - a good solid way to build a business.
