What is a Wholesale Distributor?

A wholesale distributor is a company that sells items at wholesale, usually in large quantities. Usually the larger the wholesale lot, the bigger the savings to the buyer so you can get large lots of an item, then break it down to resell.

Wholesale distributors and wholesale suppliers sell to the common stores where you go to buy items. These stores act as the middle man. They sell it to you for more than their wholesale cost. The wholesaler sells it to the store for more than they paid for it. It goes up the chain to the manufacturer. The manufacturer sells it to the wholesaler for more than it cost them to make it. Everyone makes a profit this way as it moves down the chain.

Selling Wholesale Items for a Profit

Selling and reselling wholesale merchandise is easier now, especially with the internet and online auctions. Many people make a business of buying product from wholesalers and then reselling on an internet auction site.

You can get your supplies from the distributor at wholesale and then resell them to make a nice profit in online auctions or even at a local flea market. It’s pretty easy to sell items once you get them. Usually it’s finding the wholesale supplier that is the hardest part.

You can simply go to Google or Yahoo and search for “product x wholesale supplier”. This will get you a lot of results, but few – if any – useful ones.
