weird and funny ebay auctions - wedding dresses to grilled cheese sandwiches |

The Legend Of The eBay Wedding Dress GuyeBay has listed some pretty odd things. A few of them have become legends. One such legend is that of the eBay Wedding Dress Guy. It all started in April of 2004, when a guy called Larry Star listed "One Slightly Used Size 12 Wedding Gown. Only worn twice: Once at the wedding and once for these pictures" on the eBay online auction site eBay. Then the media circus began. Larry Becomes A StarLarry, in his eBay auction description, wasn't so much advertising a dress, as he was telling everyone who would listen, about how awful his ex-wife had been. The listing’s intent was as much about getting even as it was about off loading an item he had no further use for. The auction of the fabled wedding dress ended on April 28th 2004, with the buyer placing a winning bid of $3,850. But according to Mr Star, on his website www.weddingdressguy.com, the buyer has backed out, claiming "I left my computer on and somebody made the bid for me." Mr Star stated that eBay advised him to either accept the second-highest bid or re-list the dress and hold the auction sale again. But as of March 15th 2005, it seemed he had not decided whether he would accept the next highest legitimate bid or relist the dress. But it's not all bad news for Larry. During the auction he received many marriage proposals and ultimately over 17 million hits to his wedding dress listing. Which is actually quite amazing. In addition, Larry Star has twice been a guest on both MSNBC's Countdown program, and NBC's Today Show, each time wearing the unsold wedding gown. Also thanks to the dress, he has made his debut as a stand-up comedian at the program Comedy Club in Atlanta.
