More and More Headlines Seem to Say eBay SuedWhile many eBay users have sold many different items on eBay and millions of items are sold every day, eBay must protect itself from fraudulent activity of all kinds. There are headlines in many countries that read "eBay sued" for a variety of claims. One of the latest lawsuits was from Rolex, who was suing eBay because members were selling on eBay fake Rolex watches. The on line auction sites, as it turns out have to be managed in such a way as to prevent the infringement of copyright laws, trademarks etc, or so the owners of these trademarks feel. There are quite a few lawsuits on the docket where various companies are suing eBay for not policing their members and having appropriate guidelines in place. eBay Has Fought Back and WoneBay problems may not be totally lost in this area. They won a recent lawsuit against them for infringement of sports memorabilia where the court found the online auction house was not liable for the sale of phoney sports memorabilia on its Web site. Whether eBay wins these lawsuits, their business could be hurt due to the energy it takes, the cost of being sued and the distraction from its main business of running online auctions. If you plan to try to make money on eBay, it is probably a good idea to stay away from these areas of infringement. You can do a quick search to find other areas that eBay is being sued for selling items on their online auction web site. If your business falls into any of these categories you may be placing yourself and your business at an unnecessary risk by selling these items on eBay.
