eBay Secrets That You Might Not Have Known

There are quite a few eBay secrets that the successful buyers and sellers use. Knowing how to take advantage of some of these secrets can help you, whether you’re buying or selling on eBay.

For example, did you know you can have more than one user ID on eBay? Most people assume they are only allowed to have one. The only requirement for multiple ID’s is that each one is registered with a different email address. Even if your internet provider only gives you one, it’s easy to set up free accounts with Hotmail or Yahoo.

Why would you want more than one user ID? If you’re a buyer, you might want to have a "secret" account to use when you’re buying a gift on eBay for friends or family, and don’t want them checking to see what you’re bidding on.

If you’re a seller, you might want to have separate accounts for buying and selling. That way, if you buy something for a steal in one eBay auction and turn around and sell it yourself in another, nobody will be able to see what you paid for it. If you do it with a single ID, they can check your history to see what you have bought.

As a seller, it might also be helpful to have a separate eBay ID for different types of products that you’re selling. You can create a name that is related to what you sell, and keep them separated.

What Other Secrets Should You Know?

If you’re buying on eBay, one of the secrets of finding great deals is searching for misspellings. If you’re looking for a specific item, try searching for some possible misspellings. You would be amazed at how many sellers don’t double-check their spelling when selling an item.

Most people search for the proper spelling, so these misspelled auctions often get very few or maybe no bids. You can quite easily win these auctions for much less than an item is worth.

With just a few of these eBay tricks, you can beat many other buyers and sellers with very little extra effort.

Sell by Lots

If you have two or more of one item, you can list it as a “lot.” For example, if you had five bottles of suntan lotion purchased from a salvage store for .50 each, and you decided to list them on eBay for $1.00 each, rather than list each one separately, another option is to sell them as a lot. Often times, people perform their search based on lots. However, if you had one bottle of suntan lotion, one bottle of regular lotion, and one bottle of aloe vera, you would want to list them as their own item.
