If You’re Looking for Something to Sell on eBay Books Might be a Possibility

On eBay books can be a very profitable item. You can sell your books through web auctions on eBay itself or you can use Half.com – this is the same Half eBay bought a couple of years ago. They both give you a large number of book buyers.

If you look at the books that are selling on eBay, you’ll find that they tend to be more collectible and unique books. Selling your used copy of the latest John Grisham novel is not going to make you any money.

What Kind of Books Should You Sell on eBay and Other Auctions Online?

The best kind of books to sell on eBay are either collectible – after all for collectibles eBay is one of the first places many people go – or unique in some way. Collectible books are pretty obvious… If you have a signed first edition copy or a rare out-of-print book that is worth a lot of money, you will be able to sell it on eBay quite easily.

If you’re looking for a more consistent income stream, and don’t have a vast library of valuable books you want to liquidate, then selling common but unique books is the way to go.

Some of the best types of books include:

Non-fiction books – they tend to sell the best
Books about famous people, particularly if they are in the news for some reason (Elvis would have been 70 this year. There will lots of press and lots of people searching for him on eBay.)
Books about places, again particularly about places in the news. Think of events like the Olympics or other sporting events.

Search your local used bookstores for old books that may be of value to someone. Things like old university or high-school annuals can sell for a lot to someone who attended back then.

With a little thought, you can come up with lots of types of books that will sell well on eBay and won’t have every other bookseller on the site competing with you.
