How to Buy and Sell Collectible Coins on eBay

There are thousands of collectible coins offered for sale by auction on eBay every day of the year, covering every denomination and level of quality. Buyers can also purchase by Auctions eBay, supporting material such magnifying glasses and software programs that will assist you in managing your coin collection.

Coins fall into several different categories such as mint sets and commemorative sets to individual coins that have value due to their age and quality of care over the years. Coins with no discernable marks or even fingerprints will command a higher auction price on eBay than coins of the same denomination and age that are marked and not protected from the elements. Many of these coins have been in circulation and damaged as a result.

Selling Coins by Auction

Many buyers of coins at auctions such as eBay are looking to find a bargain, while other buyers are actually looking to add to their collection and are willing to pay a reasonable price for each coin. The seller should list each coin with care, good close up pictures and an accurate description of the coins, and with any history they might know about the coin.

Sellers should also protect their investment by placing a reserve bid on their coins at each auction. If your coin is worth $2000, because it is a rare coin, it would be a shame to see it sell for only $500.

There can be well over 100,000 coins and other coin collection material listed for auction on any given day. Before you place your coin up for auction, take some time to review the current coins being offered for auction. This will assist you in evaluating not only what you might sell your coin for, but will also assist you in setting a reasonable reserve bid for your coins.
